Random Problem from My Pre-Algebra Textbook

"The temperature rose from -4 degrees F to 45 degrees F in Spearfish, South Dakota, on January 22, 1943, in only 2 minutes! By how many degrees did the temperature change?"

Should be a fun winter.

They said they got it out of "The Weather Book," published by Random House, and with a name like that, how could it be wrong?

Also, I've only been here for a month or so, and I've already experienced 30 degree weather shifts in a matter of a half hour or so. So give it sixty years and you're bound to get something crazy.

Well, "The Weather Book" does sound pretty authoritative. Does the wind just blow in significantly hotter/colder air all of a sudden?

I'm not a scientist, Dodds, I'm just a math teacher.
